Bass’s new vision...veteran singer finds clarity after eye scare

When Adrian “Bass” Hackshaw noticed dark specks drifting across his right eye, he knew something was not right. Then they multiplied. What began as a small irritation became a warning he could not ignore, and a visit to the specialist brought news that shifted everything in an instant.
“I had what was called a retinal detachment which is basically tissue ruptured at the back of my right eye,” Bass told the Express via WhatsApp on Wednesday. “I was seeing floaters, like lots of dark spots, went for a test, was sent to a specialist who said I had to do an operation ASAP.”
That single word, “operation”, carries a different weight when eyesight is on the line. Bass has been through industry challenges and life pivots, but this moment sat heavier than most.
He did a test on a Thursday earlier this month. By the following Wednesday, he was in surgery.
“I opted to be asleep while being operated on, so that was easy,” he said. “Was in a lil pain and grogginess when I came to.”
