Buju pulls out, Marley is in

The Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival has hit a snag as headline act Mark Myrie, best known as Buju Banton, has been forced to cancel his performance in Tobago this Easter due to health issues in his immediate circle.


Tobago Festivals Commission Ltd (TFCL) chief executive officer Kern Cowan announced Myrie’s withdrawal during a news conference at its head office, Scarborough, yesterday.


In a recorded message played by Cowan, Myrie said: “Greetings, massive of Tobago, this is Buju Banton. I want to take this time out to let you know that due to unforeseen circumstances and health issues in my immediate circle, I’m unable to be there on the ground with you at this appointed time, but trust and believe your love and your admiration and your support has been overwhelming over the years.


“We plan to make it back up to you. Nothing is more important and nothing is more vital than health, so right now I’m in a choice fighting for a good friend’s life. So until then, I see you soon, I catch up with you.”


It was further announced that Myrie has been replaced by Stephen Marley, son of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley. Read More
