Election bombshells from UNC

The United National Congress dropped several bombshells last night as the party rejected “dissident” Mayaro incumbent Rushton Paray and confirmed former senior police officer Roger Alexander as it candidate for Tunapuna.


A new candidate was also named for Naparima, previously held by Rodney Charles, who did not seek nomination.


In addition, newly elected Public Services Association president Felisha Thomas took to the UNC platform in Sangre Grande and delivered an address, saying workers in this country must be free from dictatorship and that meant they must be free from the PNM.


Nicholas Morris replaced Paray for the seat of Mayaro, and Dr Narendra Roopnarine will contest ­Naparima.


Former superintendent of police Roger Alexander, who last week resigned from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, was announced as the candidate for the Tunapuna seat last night at the UNC campaign meeting at North Eastern College in Sangre Grande. Read More
