Lydia Seecharan - winning Jr Panorama arranger

IF a picture tells a thousand words, the look of jubilation on the face of pan arranger and music teacher Lydia Seecharan when San Fernando Boys’ RC (SFBRC) took home the Junior Panorama title (primary school category) on February 2, spoke volumes.


As the boys delivered a high-octane performance of “Dingolay” by the late great Mighty Shadow (Winston Bailey), the only one having more fun than the young pannists was Seecharan herself. Once the boys finished their performance and the crowd erupted in cheers, tears came to Seecharan’s eyes. It was a moment that will be etched in her heart forever.


“Being on that stage with my pumpkins was an amazing feeling, I am happy that my boys and the entire team got to be part of this amazing production. It was a display of love, you play pan with your heart through your hands,” she said.


For six months the boys had gruelling practice sessions using pans that were provided by Junia Regrello and Heritage Petroleum Skiffle. Even those who had never played an instrument before adapted quickly to the music. Read More
