Tommy Joseph has always known how to make people laugh. But in 2025, the veteran comedian is finally finding the strength to allow himself to smile. The 69-year-old entertainer, beloved across the region for his sharp wit and iconic characters, is preparing to take the stage once more with “The Big Comedy Show”, on June 21, at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA), San Fernando.


It will be the Plymouth, Tobago-born funny man’s first solo comeback performance after a series of major health scares in 2022 that nearly took his life.


“Yes, I couldn’t even hold myself up, could not even walk,” Tommy shared during a candid chat with the Kitcharee on Thursday morning. “So yes... I used to think that I would never be able to go back out on a stage ever again.”


The fight to live, the strength to return


Tommy’s health crisis began suddenly. He was hospitalised at the San Fernando General Hospital for fluid retention linked to a heart condition. While there, he was also treated for an abscess on his chest and suffered a stroke that affected the entire left side of his body. Read More
